  • The Five: Fall Films to See That May Be Under Your Radar

  • Blog image

We’ve already shared which movies Fandango readers are anticipating the most this fall, with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows leading the pack. But what about those off-the-radar movies; the kind that you maybe sort of heard about one time from a guy who didn’t really know what he was talking about? Ya know, the films that look great, but haven’t been mentioned as much by the mainstream media because they’re all too busy downloading “I love/hate Justin Bieber” YouTube videos. Anyway, here are five fall films you should start paying more attention to right now before it’s too late and you’re left completely out of the loop …   1.       Never Let Me Go – One of the films that’s...

  • First ‘Piranha 3D’, and Now ‘Shark Night 3D’!

  • Blog image

Considering how successful Piranha 3D was with fans (so much so that a sequel is already being planned), Hollywood has decided they don’t want to stop there when it comes to potential 3D creature features. Unfortunately director David Ellis didn’t have the luxury of releasing his most iconic cheese-fest, Snakes on a Plane, in 3D, which may have helped bolster its box office sales. But now that 3D has come along swimmingly – as well as Piranha 3D – it seems like the perfect arena for Ellis to get back to work in. Thus, friends (and neighbors), prepare yourselves for Shark Night 3D! I don’t think you need to know the plot for this ahead of time, but we will say that it revolves around a bunch of hot young adults who visit a lake house for the weekend and...

  • ‘Kick-Ass 2’ is Happening, According to Comic Creator

  • Blog image

If there’s one thing you should know about Kick-Ass and Wanted creator Mark Millar, it’s that the guy loves to talk. He’s a dude who has big ideas and isn’t afraid to share them – to the point where it’s sometimes hard to differentiate between what’s really going on and what Millar wishes was really going on. That said, he’s obviously closer to the whole Kick-Ass movie situation than we are (he wrote the comic the film was based on), and so I suppose we should believe him when he says the sequel has been greenlit and will go into production following director Matthew Vaughn’s commitment to helming X-Men: First Class. Millar told BBC Radio (via Bleeding Cool), “The estimate is [Kick-Ass] will do 100 to 150 million on DVD based...

  • Fun Finds: Would You Eat This Yoda Cake?

  • Blog image

Hey, I’m all for fun, movie-related cakes and all, but you have to admit that this one, um, kinda takes the cake on freaky cakes. Constructed out of red velvet cake (yum), Rice Krispies and fondant, this may in fact be the most realistic movie character cake I’ve ever seen. You almost half expect Yoda to mutter something like, “Eat me not, alive I still am” right before the kid standing next to you with a plate and a smile digs a knife into the green dude’s eyes in order to cut himself a big, fat piece of that tasty Jedi treat. The cake comes via Instructables (a site where people post fun projects along with the steps they took to make them), and here’s what the Yoda cake creator had to say about his masterpiece: “I’m an artist who...

  • ‘Breaking Dawn’ Adds Egyptian Vampire Benjamin to Cast

  • Blog image

We’ve gone a few days since our last Breaking Dawn update, and we can sense you Twi-hards out there becoming a little restless, itching to know more about the final two installments in your beloved Twilight Saga. We don’t have much for you, but there is a piece of delicious casting news floating around online waiting to be devoured. During their Emmy Awards party, Entertainment Tonight let loose that Rami Malek (he played Ankmenrah In both Night at the Museum films) has joined the cast of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn as the vampire Benjamin, who’s part of an Egyptian coven that assist the Cullens by acting as witnesses for them during a key part in the movie. Malek will most likely be joined by several other vampires who still need to be cast, including more...

  • Fanboy Fix: 'Wolverine 2,' 'Deadpool' and 'Clash of the Titans 2'

  • Blog image

Darren Aronofsky May Direct 'Wolverine 2' Just when we thought it was down to two directors vying for the directing job on Wolverine 2, Deadline has gone and thrown a wrench in the whole thing claiming that Darren Aronofsky (The Wrestler, Black Swan) is also now a contender to direct. What we now know is that Robert Schwentke has backed out of the running, leaving David Slade (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) all alone to battle Aronofsky, both of whom have been meeting with Hugh Jackman to chat and talk about the project. Jackman is said to have final say here, and while one would think that Aronofsky has the upper hand since he has a prior relationship with Jackman (they worked on The Fountain together), it's pretty obvious – especially after seeing what he did with Eclipse –...

  • New 'Harry Potter' Pic!

  • Blog image

We get a glimpse of Harry at 12 Grimmauld Place in the new Harry Potter photo that Warner Bros. revealed today. A quick refresher for forgetful Muggles out there: 12 Grimmauld Place is the home of the Black family, a pure-blooded line of wizards. Sirius Black, Harry's late godfather, offered the place as the Order of the Phoenix headquarters. It can only be seen by magical persons who learn of the location through the Secret Keeper – the person designated through a Fidelius Charm. So although Grimmauld Place is secured as a refuge for Harry, he's warily making his way up the stars, wand lit with a Lumos charm. It could be because Kreacher, the Black's house elf who's partial to pure bloods, is still lurking around the now decrepit mansion. Check it out below and...

  • Shia LaBeouf Named Most Valuable Actor for Second Year in a Row

  • Blog image

When it comes to which actors and actresses offer the most bang for the buck, Shia LaBeouf, star of the upcoming Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, has once again found himself at the top of Forbes annual list, which takes a look at the top 36 earners in Hollywood who've made at least three wide-release films in the past five years to see which ones offer the greatest return on the studio's investment. Thanks to hits like Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull ($787 million worldwide) and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen ($836 million worldwide), LaBeouf is number one for the second year in a row. According to Forbes, they estimate that for every one dollar LaBeouf earns, the movie in which he stars in makes $81 in profit. Of course it also doesn't hurt that the kid...

  • 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' Named Fall's Most Anticipated Film

  • Blog image

With September upon us, it definitely feels like the summer movie season has slowly (and somewhat quietly) come to an end. Now, with the fall, we have what some consider to be the strongest of all movie seasons – one packed with several awards contenders from high-profile filmmakers, spooky horror movies and one super popular boy wizard. Fandango polled more than 1,000 readers and asked them which movie they were anticipating the most this fall. With the exception of their top pick – Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I (with a demanding 38%) – the results may surprise you. Coming in at number two was Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, with the sequel to the 1987 film beating out several other popular titles. Apparently Oliver Stone, Michael Douglas and...
